Where is my heart? Music.
Such a magnificent night of music in West Dundee, IL at the RocHaus. Jeff Massey opened for Eric Johanson, and the entire night was a fireball of music.
Joe Winters and Jeff, who I gigged with years ago, are two of the finest musicians I have ever known. I’ve had the pleasure of watching them evolve over two decades. They are some of the kindest, most humble, hardest working musicians out there, and they keep growing while staying tight through the years. They are still putting out amazing new music with deep grooves that drives Americana and blues, which is not easy to do. Their songwriting and playing is not only iconic, it’s easily identifiable. I can spot Jeff’s vibrato, but that might just be years of listening, and I can feel Joe’s groove. I can’t imagine a world of music without these guys contributing to it.
Meeting Eric Johanson was a massive thrill as well. I was new to his music and absolutely blown away by his tone, and his band is outstanding too. A must see if they come through your area. He also took the time to talk to those in attendance, and I got to swap gear stories with him. I will talk your ear off about gear. Apologies, Eric :)
